I've got a busy week ahead, but my aim is still to try and blog every day while I have the internet handy.
I decided I'm going to post some of my favourite songs (as I couldn't think of anything better to do).
Today I've chosen Werewolves of London
by Warren Zevon.
Zevon was a talented musician, who died in his 50s and only gained any acclaim (and a cult following) after his death. Sadly, I'm one of those people. Still, better late than never, eh? His songs had catchy evocative melodies, but his lyrics were dark, political, glib, and frequently very funny.
I've chosen this song, mainly for the humorous lyrics and the howling. It references a lot of London locations and I dig that (Zevon was American). The fact this song didn't
feature on the soundtrack for An American Werewolf in London
- my favourite film - amazes me. I almost chose Carmelita
(which was covered by GG Allin, another of my heroes), or Excitable Boy
- both of which I highly recommend you check out on YouTube too.
