Cash Flow

The cost of living in London is ridiculous. Granted, I have a mortgage – but my place is tiny and I do have a job, and I do freelance work in the evenings/weekends.

Over the next few months there are some things that I must do (it’s very simple – I really have no choice in the matter). And as an adult with a full-time job, I don’t see why I shouldn’t be able to afford these things…

Even so, I will have to choose whether I eat, or whether I do these things. It all boils down to priorities (and you can probably guess which I’m going to opt for):

Chas ‘n’ Dave’s farewell gig at the O2 next week.

Nicolas Roeg season at NFT/BFI (must see – Don’t Look Now, Walkabout, Performance, The Man Who Fell to Earth, Bad Timing).

2-day trip to Russia in April.

Suede play 3 nights at Brixton Academy in April (a different album each night).

I’d like to get 1 new tattoo each month this year.

And then there’s the weekly outgoings on booze and  cigarettes. Are these things necessary? Yes indeedy. Are these things overpriced? Of course. But will I go without them? Not a chance…
